  • Notes
    • [Three] siblings, parents not known.  Thepoem by Gosbert, addressed t o the brother "Guillelmum Blesensiumcomitem", which refers to him as " Francigenum primo proavisabavisque peralto"[122]suggests that their an cestry was illustrious.  Levillain identifies Eudes with Odo,son of [ Adrianus [Udalrichinger] & his wife Waldrada ---][123].  This seems u nlikely to be correct as the name Guillaume/Wilhelm(brother of Eudes C omte d’Orlé ans) does not appear at all in the Udalrichingerfamily, al though it is possible that the name could have been introduced fromthe ir mother’s family.  A possible clue about the origins of Eudes's mot her isprovided by the Vita Hludowici Imperatoris which records the bli nding of"Heribertus Bernhardi frater" and his exile with"Hodo consobri nus illius"[124].  The previous passage in the Vita records the confi scationof Orlé ans from Eudes Comte d'Orlé ans.  It is possible tha t he was the sameperson as "Hodo", although if this is correct the pre cise natureof the relationship between him and Hé ribert has not bee n established.  Assuming that Hé ribert was the son of Guillaume de To ulouse and his first wifeCunigundis (about which there is some doubt , as explained elsewhere in thisdocument), and assuming also that "con sobrinus" is used in thetext in its strict sense, Cunegundis and the m other of Eudes Comte d'Orlé answould have been sisters.
