Those of us focused on the past should also pay attention to the present and future.

aviva_lincoln lions_3 photo 03-photo-bosco_zps8dfe236a.jpgWe genealogists tend to live our lives focused on the past.

Whatever the trials and tribulations our ancestors lived and struggled through, we have our own issues today – and plenty of them.

Do you have an idea for helping your community but have been at a loss as to how to get funding and support? At the very least, we all can contribute even a small amount of time and effort, but finances can be a different matter. Often it’s the people living through a situation that best recognize the needs of the community and these are the people least likely to have the funds to implement their ideas.

aviva_lincoln lions_1 photo 01-Lions_vote_zps1e0b006b.jpg Aviva Community Fund‘s 5th annual charity activation competition from August 15, 2013 to January, 2014 may be your opportunity. Just submit your charitable program idea and you could share in the $1,000,000 fund being made available for those ideas receiving the most votes on the website. Those who have gained the support of an insurance broker will have the best advantage.

aviva_holyrood_2 photo 02-students_zpse185639f.jpg The deadline for submission of ideas is November 25, 2013. If you’re not submitting ideas, be sure to vote for the ideas you like best, whether they will assist your community or others.
