The following is my transcription of the 1877 will of Friedrich H. Busse.



Busse Friedrich H.

In the Name of God Amen:

I Friedrich H. Busse, of Hyde Park County of Cook and State of Illinois being of sound and disposing mind and memory, calling to mind the frailty and uncertainty of Human Life, and being desirous of settling my worldly affairs and directing how the Estates with which it has pleased God to bless me Shall be disposed of after my Decease, while I have strength and capacity so to do, do make and publish this my last Will and Testament, hereby revoking and making null and void all other Wills and Testaments by me heretofore made.


My Will is that all my just Debts and Funeral Expenses shall by my Executor herein after named, be paid out of my Personal Estate as soon after my decease as shall be found convenient.


I give, devise and bequeath to my beloved wife Barbeta my Worldly Estate, real, personal and mixed to have and to hold the same, as and by Virtue of a Life Estate.


I give devise and bequeath to my son George F. Busse all of my Real, personal and mixed Estate of every name and nature whatsoever in his own absolute right, title and Estate for ever from and at the Expiration of his Mother’s Estate, being determined by her natural death.

Or if my Wife entering into Matrimony again then one Half of my Estate is going to my Son George F Busse, for ever and the other Half to my Wife, Barbeta Busse as life Estate (without interference of her future Husband.)


I hereby give to my said Executrix full Power and Authority to sell any of my Real and Personal Estate at private or public Sale, or to lease the same as she may deem best for the interest of my family.

And I hereby nominate constitute and appoint my Wife, Barbeta Busse to be the Sole Executrix of this my Last Will and Testament.
It is my Request that my said Executrix be not required to give Bonds for the performance of her respective Duties under this Will.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my Hand and Seal in the presence of the following named Witnesses, by me requested to attest my
