The following is my transcription of the Last Will and Testament of James Balla of Air, Pennsylvania, dated 3 Apr 1770. 

 

James Balla was the 8th great grandfather to our children, Erin and Stuart.

In the Name of God Amen I James Balla of Air Township Cumberland County and Provicne of Pennsylvania Being weak in Body but sound in memory (Blessed be God) do this 3rd day of April in the year o our Lord 1770 make and Publish this my last Will and Testament in manner following (that is to say) first that all Legal debts and funeral Charges must be paid then I give to James Balla my Eldest Son and Augustine Balla my second son I give all that messuage and tenement or Situate Whereon I now live also I give to my dear Wife one mare two Cows and six Sheep and peaceable possession wherein now she possesses and Sufficient maintenance during her Widdowhood I also give to my son George Balla one years Shooling a Trade if he desires it and good Close and when he is at age a Horse and saddle worth fifteen Pounds. I also give to my daughter Wilimina Balla twenty Pounds to be paid in good or Cattles I also give to my daughter Mary Balla Twenty Pounds to be in the same, I also give to my Grandson Jonathan Shelby five Pounds to be paid when is come of age. I also give to my Daughtetr Elizabeth five Pounds to be paid in goods or Cattle I also make and ordain her my said wife and James Balla my sone Sole Executrix of this my Will in trust for the intent and purposes in this my Will in contained Witness whereof I the said James Balla have to this my last Will and Testament set my Hand and seal the day and year above Written

Be it Remembered that on the 20th day of June 1770 Letters Testamentary issued in common form to the Widdow Balla and James Balla Executors so named in the last will and Testament of James Balla deceased of which this Record is a true Copy Inventory and Account to be exhibited in the time appointed by law Witness my Hand the day and year above said
